    BeoCom 4

    Hello,

Is it easy to open a BeoCom 4 to replace the battery pack and without damaging the unit? Is it worth to do this by myself or is it better to contact aftersale service?

    Thanks

    Hi benoit,

I'm not sure whether that battery looks genuine to me, but I can't comment too much as I do not understand the description of this eBay item.

I tried several times, along with my dealer to remove the covers from my BeoCom 4 to replace them with a new pair, but I just couldn't remove the cover attached to the docking station. However, I know people who have removed their covers quite easily. The newer BeoCom 4 model seems to be harder to remove. Do you have a copy of instructions on how to remove the covers properly?

No I have no instructions on how to remove the covers. I thought it would be easy to open the handset, but I haven't tried. For the base station it seems to be harder to remove the cover. Now I think (with my two left hands...) that I should perhaps better give this job to an after sale station.

Are you sure you have a problem with your battery ?

If you have a BeoCom 4 with software before version 1.7 and it indicates "Charge Battery" then this could be a software issue.

There was an intermittent fault in the software that measures the battery capacity and voltage, which makes it think that the capacity is lower than it really is, and therefore, it indicates "Charge Battery"

Also, there were two types of battery fitted

Batteries marked with the label 'G2-R', may in some cases be defective.
Batteries made by Sanyo are the ones which must be used.

To remove the Beocom 4 cover you need the same tool as the Beopcom 6000 as below:-

    Thank you Keith.

How can I see which software I have? If the software is faulty, can it be upgraded?

My Beocom 4 has had this particular software problem. It was fixed by my dealer. Can't tell exactly what he did, though...

    Re: BeoCom 4

The dealer can fix this problem by removing the case and connecting a "Service Jig" to the phone which has three (3) connections which connect to pads on the printed circuit board. These three signals are Ground, transmit and receive and is a standard RS232 signal spec.

The cable is then connected to the "Comm's" port of a PC or laptop which has the B&O Beocom Service Tool software loaded.

With this software tool your dealer can:-

    • Register Beocom 4 handset to base
    • Update software in the handset
    • Reading and writing the phonebook and caller information

You will need to take your phone to your dealer to get this done.
