    mcl2p question

    Dear experts !

I am not a B&O expert and this is my first post to this forum:
A while ago I bought an Avant TV with Dolby and now I would like to use the dolby option. I have bought a MCL2P at ebay to be able to use the passive front speakers I already have. I have connected the Avant to the MCL2P with a 1:1 8-pole DIN cable. When I switch on the Avant the MCL2P light switches from red to green.

Now I am starting to have problems or making some mistake:
I have put 2-pole 'dot-bar' plugs to my speakers that I can plug into the 4-pole speaker outputs of MCL2P, the other 2 dot - holes left unconnected. This leads to the behaviour that speakers make a loud 'blob', the MCL2P switches to red and does not work for a minute or so.

I am not familiar with the 4-pole 'speakerlink' connectors nor do I have a plug for them but I thought I could use the standard 2-pole speaker plugs. Maybe that was wrong ? Or should it work and there is something wrong with the MCL2P ? I I am happy for any kind of answer !

    Re: mcl2p question

    Hi Michael,

maybe  wrong wiring? You will find more information about speaker connections here:
    http://www.beoworld.org/beotech/wiring1.htm
    and here:
    http://www.beoworld.org/beotech/mclconn1.htm
Power up the Avant and the MCL 2P without any speakers connected.
BTW You are in the german forum, but anyway - welcome.

    Hi Michael Max,

    your configuration should work IMO.
You should check your cables for a short circuit.

Which impedance do your speakers have?

As far as I understood the MCL2P keeps running without speakers connected. Can you confirm this?

May be the MCL2P detects overload and automatically power down to protect himself. That would also explain why you have to wait for some time before it resumes working.

    Re: mcl2p question

You must connect Pin 4 to Pin 1 DIN Powerlink on the side to the MCL2P

Then the MCL2P would be power on at start of your TV.

Light goes from red to green.

The Speaker plug can be the 2 pin plugs.

    Re: mcl2p question

    Dear All,

I want to thank for all the replies. They seem to indicate thst all should be ok.

Yes, without speakers attached, everything seems to be ok (red->green upon power on). And the 1:1 8=pole DIN cable is ok. My speakers have an impedance of 8 Ohm (older epicure speakers). So, except for the unlikely case that both speakers have a short-curcuit, maybe the mcl2p is broken ...
