    Cables

    A quick question..

Can I use subwoofer cables to connect a non B&O pre-amp/decoder to Beolab 6000/4000?

The (thin) cable which I am thinking of using is the QED QONTOUR MSR-SW subwoofer cable. Are there any potential problems?

    Any help is greatly appreciated

It should work fine, I personally believe difference in sound between cables, especially interconnects is all a load of hot air...

    Re: Cables

Thanks for the quick reply. The only reason for using the QED cable is because it is very thin and can be hidden away easily. As a bonus, it also matches the skirting board.

The cable debate will be never ending - including the perceived benefits of "burning in" a cable.

The only time I have known a digital interconnect cable fail to send any data was when  it was disconnected!

    Re: Cables

I agree with Alex.  For running amplified signals, sometimes wire thickness matters, and some types of wires need shielding, but past that there's really no difference.  Just because there is a debate about something doesn't mean we're not sure about the answer.  Cable burn in doesn't make a difference.

You may scoff but there is science to back up his claim!

Green tends to have a soothing and harmonizing effect due to its closeness to nature and therefore produces a "natural" tone whereas the pigments use to achieve Purple have a higher permittivity, leading to a higher dilectric constant (i.e. capacitance), resulting in a less bright, warmer tone which is very well suited to valve power stages.

It just goes to prove "Theres many a true word spoken in jest"

    Re: Cables

Just a quick endorsement of QED cabling. I've been using some QED micro cable to connect my Beomaster 8000 and Beovox Pentas, and have been very pleased with the results. Sounds really good and the cable is really thin and hides perfectly under my skirting boards. If you want a decent thin cable that can be installed discretely, then I would recommend this wholeheartedly.
