    Radio fault Beo3200

Hi anyone any ideas I have a 3200 that I bought seconhand when I installed the unit the

Radio will not tune in, I have fitted an external FM ariel but when tuning the frequency just continually

scrolls with no tuning sound at all , can the tuner chip be replaced or is it part of some other chip

    that controllers more circuits

any help or assistance would be great

    Thanks

    Jeff

    Re: Radio fault Beo3200

Hi Jeff, and welcome to Beoworld.
I am not familiar with the 3200, but it does seem to me that it is not receiving an adequate radio signal, and therefore not locking on to a station.
Double check that you have the aerial plugged in correctly and that the aerial is ok.
Failing that, someone will surely be along who is more qualified than me to help you.

    Jeff,

I think you need to re-check your aerial because if the radio does not get enough signal it will just mute the sound.

Rather than play around with your FM aerial, I suggest you un-plug it and put a standard piece of wire a couple of feet long in the centre pin of the socket and re-tune. If the radio is working you will get a couple of strong stations, which if you do, means you have a problem with your main aerial.

If that fails then it sounds that you have a hardware fault with the radio itself.

    Regards Keith....

    Jeff,

If the radio board has a fault you will have to change PCB86 which is the FM/AM radio with RDS. There is not a single chip and it certainly cannot be upgraded to digital.

The best way to fix this is find a Beo3200 which is being broken up for spares and use the module in it.

Graham (joeyboygolf) may be able to help you as he gets quite a lot of this type of B&O kit which he refurbs.

    Regards Keith....

Sorry but I'm afraid I can't help you here. I have never seen a faulty radio section on a 3200 or for that matter any of the Ouverture types.

I can say that none of them are particularly sensitive. I live out in the sticks in Cambridgshire and I only get 1 BBC station plus our local station and neither is strong enough for stereo!!

Nick (solderon29) may be able to help. Try a PM to him.

    Regards Graham
