    Avant

    Hello everybody,

You have probably heard this problem many times, but I foolishly bought a 32" Avant off ebay, type no. 84/23. When I got it home the picture flickers and appears green/blue. I have a friend who in the past has repairs T.V. s and suspects that it maConfusedy be the red gun that it not firing in the tube. He asked me to try and aquire any schematic drawings to assist him in repairing it. Would this be feasible or is their a new tube i.e. Phillips that I can use? Would it have to be a B&O tube? You guys are the experts.

Fortunately the tube is an easy fix if that's what the problem turns out to be. Here in the US, a tube replacement can run well under $1,000. That's certainly a pretty penny, but for an historic television system it may be worthwhile. And yes, the tubes are sourced from Phillips, but they are Bang & Olufsen spare parts and would have to be acquired from Bang & Olufsen.
