I came across a LX 2802 with a nearly mint Beolink 1000 at a flea market. The remote works perfectly, but I can't turn the tv on. When the power is on I can see the red light in the upper right corner. When I press tv on the remote the red light disappears for a second and the turns red again and nothing else happens.

Any idea what might be wrong? Is it worth repairing on a LX 2802? It's a very nice set to look at, but on the other hand I'm not going to spend a fortune on repairing it.

Not to scare you of or anything, but my LX2500 has been in and out of the repair shop several times for this exact problem, they can't seem to get it fixed! Could be my repair shop is useless...

Often this is caused by a fault in the line output stage.  Usually not too difficult or too expensive to fix.

The reason that the RED light coming back on and the set does not start up is caused by the safety circuit cutting in to stop damage to the set due to a fault. That's the good news...

The fault could be many things, but by far the most common relates to short circuit transistors often the drive to the LOPT (Line Output Transformer) pulling to much current from the power supply.

Unless you are a technical person this is a job for a good TV repair shop...

Thanks for your replies. I'll try to find somebody to have a look at it. It's far too nice a set to let go to the rubbish dump, - on the other hand it doesn't represent much value these days where the price of lcd screens is falling rapidly.
