BeoGram 4002 shutter light in tonearm went out

    Hello,

I was just listening to a record when I heard it skipping - checking it out I realized the tonearm wasn't progressing forward.  Further investigation  proved that the shutter light is not on.  I don't know if it's burned out or if there is another problem.

    Any ideas where to start?

    Tim

    4002 type 5503

The light I am referring to is part# 3164196 - housing with lamp, that is under the diaphragm.   Is this something that burns out?

You will probably be replacing the lamp as a discrete component. I don't have the manual at hand but it's probably a 24V 25mA or so.

You should be able to see it shine in the housing. If not, put a voltmeter across its wires. If you have about 20 volts or so and no light, the lamp is at fault.

Thanks -    I just got done fine-tuning the tonearm and replacing the belts and cartridge.  It was working absolutely fantastic until this new problem.

The concern I have now is trying to get to the lamp without taking apart more than necessary.
