    CD50 - I am a happy chappie!

    Well, after years of trying to buy a decent, working one, I finally bit the bullet and took my lovely condition but non-working Beogram CD50 to Tim Jarman and I have to say, what a guy! I also took him a friend's Sony Walkman Pro WM6DC and I have never known anyone else who, when confronted with a blown and non-availalbe DC to DC convertor, splits it open and replaces the surface mount components inside...

    His knowledge of B&O is almost scary and his collection of equipment is incredibly impressive. Needless to say, my CD50 is now playing happily and i have the complete Beosystem 5000 singing merrily in the dining room.

    I agree - he is a bit of a star! He machined a part for my Beocord 5000 (the 70s one) as you can no longer get bits for these. Actually they are also impossible to get a normal repairer to do much more than run away screaming when presented with one of these machines! Mine now works perfectly!

    By the way, did he tell you about the fact it only has one DAC? It always amuses me to think that for half the time, each channel is effectively doing nothing! (not completely true but amuses me!) Laughing

    Dear AdamS,

    Any chance you could put me in touch with Tim Jarman as I too have a CD50 requiring attention to its disc drive motor.
