Well, as you may have seen in other threads - it's about five years since I posted here, having been a founding member back in 18-whatever-it-was. Looks like it will be another five years before I post again. Jeeez... Thanks for welcoming me back into the fold Beoworld. It's really been a pleasure!
No it's not.
Yes it is. Here's what I wrote: "but Apple do not grant licences to decode Apple Lossless on their devices" I wrote what I wrote in the edit at the same time as the bit you originally quoted so I'm not sure why you saw one and not the other. Love and kisses

Which is what I already wrote above. Not sure why you're getting so upset. How does this constitute a 'degneration' of the discussion?
Not a problem at all if they openly license it!
No indeed, but my point was that Phil seemed to be saying that B&O haven't licensed Apple Lossless because they'd need to pay for it whereas AAC was an 'open standard', ie i was questioning whether Phil thought that AAC was free. The aluminium parts seems as good as they ever were. Still, I'm very happy with them. As I indicated in another thread I've been looking at the BS5 Encore.

An Earset 3i on Monday. First B&O purchase in five years!

It's just that the glacial pace of B&O design and R&D meant that the Beosound 8, B&O's first venture into Apple dock products years after others had been on the market, meant that it was released just as Apple announced Airplay and the rug was pulled from under it.
-
Do we know this for sure mbee? What about the three products under the black cloths in the presentation? They didn't state explicitly one way or the other what these were or whether they might be collaborative products. I think that either way, B&O have to embrace a closer working relationship with Apple at least in terms of licensing things
