Interesting. Today I heard back from the seller, expressing hurt that I'd misjudged him. He says he's taken the Beocenter to B&O Eastbourne, and is having it repaired at his own cost. He is moving abroad, and his parents will collect it in 2-3 weeks, whereupon I can still have it for the sale price. If he makes good on this, I will really

Yes, I think so too. I replied that I was happy to take it even damaged, and he has simply not responded to my message. Today he moves house, and said that it "needed to be gone by today", so I guess that's it. I opened a complaint about it with eBay.

That's a collosally useful site, thankyou so much :) Pretty much exactly what I needed.

The seller has contacted me claiming he dropped the Beocenter, and now it doesn't work, so sadly he can't complete the sale. Given the price, I suspect shenanigans, so I told him it's worth my while just for the speakers, I might be able to repair it, so please give me the address and I'll collect. We'll see what he does.

Vintage B&O appeals to me for a variety of reasons; I like good design, I like great sound, and I like to see things used beyond their lifespan. Another appeal for me, though, is that I would like to be able to repair old electronics. I'm a guitarist, so there's lots of amps around my house, and I have a late 60's Hammond Organ that

The BV3 does look ace, but I'll have to measure the cabinet to see if it will fit, and once again, it's on a stand. Can that be removed? I nearly bid on an MX6000, but I'm glad I asked about the Avant; I feared that the stand would be an issue. My lounge is full of organic things; a 1920's art deco walnut piano, a brown leather sofa

A Beovision Avant is for sale near me for a bargain price (the 28" version with VHS). I currently have a CRT with cable, so this would replace it nicely, giving me much better sound, probably better picture quality, and a better remote (the one on my current TV has questionable controls). The trouble is, I keep my TV in a lovely mahogany TV cabinet

Slight downer is that I'll work a 9 hour day Thurs, then drive for 2 hours, wish my son a happy 4th birthday and tuck him into bed, and then drive again to Brighton, because the guy can't wait a few days for me to pick up. On the upside, the system sounds very promising for what is virtually no money. I'm also doing to want to hook a CD

Yes, it's the 70's one, and somehow, I won it for £5.19! Given that it's apparently in full working order, that's a bit of a steal, and I suspect that even if it's not as good as described, I can't go wrong for that price. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170782449490?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

I stumbled into being interested in B&O because I need to build a new hi-fi. My marriage broke up, and my wife took the separates with her, leaving me with a little Aiwa midi system that really doesn't add up. I'm not a full-on audiophile, but I'm a musician, and I appreciate decent sound, so I decided to start buying some bits to put
