Yes other then that the unit works perfectly, if you look at the on line manual, in order to use this unit as a preamp, you need some kind of beo swithch type 4002 which would go to the relay input in the back of 5000 and would allow you to use this as a preamp. How do you have your connnected as a preamp? Cheers

I connected RCA output marked as Preamp of 5000 and the other end of those went into a power amp. But no sound got loud hum only.

I tried using Beomaster 5000 as a preamp, but it did not work, I got a loud hum from the speakers. Is there something wrong here? Can anyone help with this please. Cheers

I have an offer to buy either a RX2 or Beogram 5000. I was just wondering which is the better deal here in terms of sonics and reliability. Cheers

Many Thanks Martin for your replies. One last question regarding the automatic recording level. Does it adjust itself to the max level even if you do the recording off a vinyl? The output, compare to a CD player, is not very high as you know of a turntable, in my case I have a RX2 here. Please let me know. All the best.

Yes I think the tape I was using was the problem, cuz it seems to be working fine now.

Hi Martin, Got it working, no I did not open it or anything, I am not a tech. I unplugged the 7 pin audio cable from the receiver. Played a tape, then I touched FF, guess what it did. Then I tried REW and it does it. I reconnected with Beomaster 5000 and tried it with MCP 5000 so far it is responding to all commands. Not sure what was wrong but so far

Playback on this Beocord is fine, but when you press FF or REW, it stops and does not respond and shuts off. Any help from the forum would be appreciated. Cheers
