Not so sure about the 97vs 94dB issue : in real lif, the 3's seem more able to feel a big room than the 4000... Maybe it's the ABL which is set to protect more the 3's. In fact sound pressure is mostly created by the bass, and I'm not so sure that a rear speaker in a cinema setup has to generate a lot of bass.

Considering you have bl5 for front speaker, bl4000 for rears might be not enoughif you listen at high volume. You will have to change the front/rear balance to get an equilibrated sound at normal volume, but when turning the volume up, the 4000 might saturate... I would consider bl3 for rears in that kind of high end setups...

I also don't think that B&O panels are really better than Panasonic, maybe they just pass one more quality test... In fact the BV4 has only one noticeable difference : it's the (really good) antireflect screen. Concerning the BS3, if you are not using a videoprojector, mainly watch HD, don't want surround sound, and don't want multiroom

Alex: I'd say I'm almost as much of a B&W fan as I am B&O fan... Me too : we are just B&x fans!! (I also really like B&MW cars )

I'm a real fan of this thing! A very B&O styled product, with a very B&W sound design, which I hope will be close (or better, who knows?) from the Beosound 1... Don't you think it looks like 2 beolab 9 glued together??? Concerning the fact that the iPod sits like that in front of the cabinet is explained in their site, as spthomas says
