The BV7 automatically switches on the rear speakers if it gets a 5.1 signal. As you say, it does this only with one channel, I suppose that the problem lies in the signal of this channel.

I had a similar problem once. I got the DVD out by holding the edject button on the keyboard while the mac was booting.

Im Menu des BV7 kannst du (unter Options - Connections) die Liste der per Beo4 kontrollierbaren Geräte durchlesen. Ansonsten ist die Anschaffung einer Beo5 empfehlenswert, da diese lernfähig ist.

I understand what you meant, and I would have done the same. But would you blame your dealer if he had not told you how to mute the picture and would have the same problem now?

Simon, give yourself some time. I am sure that after a couple of weeks, you will be able to use your mac the way you want to use it. I have had similar (but never as big) problems at the beginning. Try out some magazines about Mac. Some of the german ones (macup; maclife, macinside) have been very helpfull to me. Don't look back in anger....

I think this is off-topic now, but it sure is interesting: is it the dealers job to show the costumer how to mute the picture? IMO: no. The dealer shows the basic functions of the product, the rest is up to the costumer and can be found in manuals... or he can ask on beoworld.org

MartinW: One thing that I don't think has been mentioned here is that when you select the SPEAKER 4 option, the processor in the TV (BeoVision range I am sure of, not sure on other models) actually plays the music in what B&O describe as 'Enhanced Stereo' mode.
