Hi Donald. It sounds as though the suspension has hardened over time which is quite common even in so called "new old stock" ones. I would send them to Axel and have the suspension renewed (I assume he can do this?) - the cantilever & stylus should be fine if they were sealed items. Or you could ask the seller to refund you.
