I agree - stay away from the iPod's EQ. Flat is the same as off as far as I can tell btw. It is already a very strong signal and very energized. I played my iPod on a BS8 at a dealer and was very pleased with the bass.

Since you are using the BeoLabs, you will most likely get the same sound result from either configuration. Reason being, you are using the same DAC in your mobile device and the same amplifier (BeoLab). Placing the 9500 in the signal path would not drastically change the sound quality. UNLESS, you have your bass, treble and loudness settings adjusted
