@TWG I think you'll find that 99/100 audio companies are manufacturing with substantial parts or whole assemblies performed in Asia, particularly China and Taiwan. Including the very small, boutique brands. (Though quite a few use B&O's ICEpower, of course.) For instance, you'll find Pioneer DVD-players inside Goldmund's units, though

We're rambling, moxxey! I'm sure you mean: ... the BS3 doesn't support HD-Audio in its entirety. I'd love to cut BeoSystem 3 some slack here, but I really do believe it doesn't do a transparent job of HD-Audio, as you have been told, again. That said, I was just at the local hifi-emporium - where there were shelves and shelves and

I'd really recommend reading the link 355f suggested above. The conclusion about this sometimes confusing situation is that these first HDMI 1.3 players cannot pass either Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio to an HDMI 1.3 receiver over HDMI in full resolution bitstream form—even though this is a stated specification for HDMI 1.3. This appears
-
I have no idea, 355f. There are lots of different statements, from official sources, apparently! If I was B&O, I would definitely put the claim that it can in the spec's - if it can. As your link shows, HDMI 1.3 is required.
-
You're being too kind, 355f! The best test is to actually compare true HD-Audio vs. the downconverted version, that takes care of any questions. How long before you get your BeoSystem 3 repaired?

It's a tangled web - as if we weren't already despondent enough, here's what happens between Panasonic's most sophisticated BD-player and receivers that do not provide the proper HDPC handshake ... (I believe I've touched upon this before, but I consider Full-HD and HDMI to be hardware and software keys conjured up by content providers

moxxey: peterjacobs: Yippeee !. Thanks Martin. Looks like my schizophrenia takes over again. So my new BS3 is not rubbish after all and will support some sort of HD full or not !. So should it now be the PS 3 with its new firmware update that outputs and decodes full hd MA or do I go for the Panasonic BD 50 which also does the decoding albeit its more

I'd actually like the BeoSystem 3 to have the capabilities you claim for it. That would require it to be able to handle unpacked Linear PCM; and for B&O to have decided to not make this clear to their dealers, customers or tech-spec's writers. DTS-HD Master Audio is a lossless audio codec created by Digital Theater System . It was previously

Make your own assumptions, Razlaw. I'm threading my way out of this now: DTS-HD Master Audio is a lossless audio codec created by Digital Theater System . It was previously known as DTS++ and DTS-HD . It is an extension of DTS which, when played back on devices which do not support the Master Audio extension, degrades to a 1.5 Mbit/s "core"

There is no direct connection between the designation "uncompressed PCM" and your assumption that this is HD-audio. I have shelves full of classical concert DVDs with Uncompressed PCM two-channel soundtracks (standard on DG, among others), in addition to the 5.1 variations. The uncompressed PCM you are getting, according to your previous statements
