  • Re: News 2008 / 2009

There are some very interesting things being done by Meridian, who are uncompromising - and who are implementing DSP and digital connections in their active speakers, and B&O might want to pay attention to that Here's one example: http://www.meridian-audio.com/p_md420.htm And yes, one might wonder at the choice of drivers in BeoLab 5 - though

  • Re: Good HDMI Cable?

Inexpensive yet well put together will do nicely -- no need at all to spend a lot of money on HDMI cables (though there are various being offered at quite amazing prices.) Cables is an area where I'm actually quite impressed with B&O. Given the prevailing fashion in audiophile circles, B&O could have made a mint by creating superexpensive

  • Re: What budget set-up should I have in my new office?

BeoLab 5s, of course. The others will just have to live with it! A friend of mine, who is a designer, installed a Beomaster 2000 with a Beogram 1200, both white, in his office -- and put two Beolab 3000s (I think it was, may have been the 4500) up on the walls. Then he attached a white iPod to the Beomaster, and was all set to go. Much envy all around

This is where Applescripts come in and are your friend. iTunes is near infinitely expandable and modifiable, as demonstrated by Doug's Immensely Useful iTunes Applescripts page. And if you can't find the script you need, someone is bound to come up with one if you list what you want, usually within a couple of hours. http://dougscripts.com/itunes

  • Re: A BeoLab 5 tip ...

Oh, I got both the User Guide and a synchronisation cable - but there was something wrong with it, maybe it got damaged by me, or before I connected it. The speakers weren't responding as they should -- with the new cable, they do. What is clear, is that it is essential if you are using non-B&O sources for the speakers, and that you're missing

  • A BeoLab 5 tip ...

I have been using a synchronisation cable between my BL5s, but couldn't get it to work properly. In the end I started wondering whether something was wrong with the connection -- but I started by getting a new cable from my dealer. As I'm using various non-B&O sources, a synchronisation cable is recommended. I didn't have cause to be

  • Re: Dolby True HD - question for 355f

Razlaw: It seems to me that the question is: What does the BS3/BV7MKIII/BV9 do with an uncompressed multichannel 24 bit 192kHz signal from a Blu-Ray player sent via HDMI? Is it altered or downconverted in any way? And the same for 96kHz and 48kHz. Hmmm, I wonder what Razlaw's Law could be? What part of "It does not support 192kHz" did

    That's dudesque for BeoVision.

  • Re: Dolby True HD - question for 355f

Yes, there's the issue of not processing 192kHz, and there's an open question whether the proper resolution reaches the BS3 processors, as that depends upon the handshake. As 355f has written earlier, the entire point with HDMI is to ensure that playback is authorised. It's only when it is that you get the full resolution stream, no matter

  • Re: Dolby True HD - question for 355f

I've made an inquiry at B&O, and believe it will help us settle this long thread! It comes from the Digital Signal Processing engineer, and must count as the final word, I trust. This means that if your player properly outputs this level of resolution, then BeoSystem 3 will resolve it. The BeoSystem 3 is capable of audio processing up to 32bit
