• Re: Beosystem 6500 displays
Interesting thread this one. What about the Active versus Passive which the 6500 system is able to handle. What would be the ideal speakers to go for if you invest in a 6500/7000 system? Active Penta's??
Mmm. Interesting. CX50s are probably the limit if you stick with the internal amp, aren't they

  • Re: How to ship a Beogram 8000.

Mattias WHATEVER YOU DO - TAKE THE PICKUP OFF THE TONEARM BEFORE SHIPPING! Apologies for the caps, but I left a MMC2 on the tonearm of a BG8002 before shipping it with transport screws engaged, in its original packaging, minus the platter, and the MMC2 got trashed in transit. Take your pickup off and package separately :)
Tim did say that he is never fixing another one!!
I got the impression that he doesn't like working on these units (!) and I'm going to phone him tomorrow to say thanks This one did need some work: one output channel blown, lots of probs with the electromechanical tone, balance and volume controls, etc
Glad to hear it's all fixed. Always thought the sound was good too, unless it's just my ears. Craig
It does - still listening to it :) Had a few beers now, so anything probably sounds high fidelity after some alcohol :P Pentas are not the easiest speakers to drive, and I'm really impressed. • Re: Beomaster 5500 vs. 6500

I think that to all intents and purposes the 5500/6500/7000 amps are exactly the same. The slightly more capable one is the 5000, so if you want to hear a difference, try one vs the later series. ...or you could get a 6000 or 8000 to truly hear what a good amp sounds like :)

  • Got my Beomaster 6000 Quad Fixed!

Very pleased today as I picked up my Beomaster 6000 Quad at long last after it went in for repair with Tim Jarman. It's a real Beoworld effort this one: Beoworld inspired me to get one after seeing some photos on the old forum, then Craig kindly let me have this one for a very reasonable price. Nigel (H1NPW) generously offered to taxi it to and

  • Re: Beogram 8002 Tone arm wont move

Could be all sorts of things Andy I had exactly the same problem, and the fault was caused because a fine brush had become lodged in the innards of the tangential drive system under the platter when the previous owner moved the deck. I'm sure someone else will be along who is more electrically profficient than me who may be able to take you through

How about a 70s Beomaster 4000 or 4400 with some Ssomethingorother series speakers?

Northerners - should we do it? We have two northerners (me and Puncher) who have expressed an interest, and a new honorary northerner (nmartin771) onboard. Anyone else?
Sounds good to me.... Simon
We got momentum :) But where is 'north' for such a meet
