The last batch of 4 cost me around £80 in UK import duty. I have never kept one in use for longer than a week and have not noticed any change in the sound. I have not felt the need to go beyond SMMC4
If you're a little handy you can replace the failing surrounds yourself.
Don't even try to fit foam surrounds as replacements - they sound crap! I bought a pair of 6000's where this type of repair had been done - the 4 bass drivers are magnetically clinging to my work bench as I type this. The repair

Older 6000's commonly fail in two areas. 1. The tweeters burn out. The speaker will sound dull and lifeless. Remove tweeter from case, disconnect wires and measure the resistance. Open or closed circuit is bad, replace it. Good tweeter should have a few ohms (4-6) resistance. 2. The flimsy rubber around the edge of the bass drivers is inclined to

The glass for the BC9300 is available from B&O. Costs around £80 and is a very passable replacement.

Discard all items from the wall bracket as none of them are required. You will need 4 set screws with purpose designed trumpet shaped pieces which screw into the back of the 9000 and which fit into the cutouts on the stand. Without these pieces you will not succeed. *edit* Just noticed that you are a silver member. Details of the stand and the mounting

A bad photodetector shows up, in my experiernce, by the arm not moving at all once it is lowered onto the record. Make sure that the tracking force is set to 1.2g. I still think that the OP's problem is a bad stylus/cartridge, the only remedy is to "bite the bullit" and replace or refurbish it.

The image shown in the above post is correct. As far as I recall, the base of Mk1, 2 and 3 are virtually the same. Are you sure that you have removed the aluminium plate for the horizontal wall bracket??? The base of the 9000 is black!!!

I agree with Peter, it's the mute relay. The only real solution is to replace it.
