  • Re: Lossless or AIFF?

AIFF will play on an iPod.

  • Re: Lossless or AIFF?

Apple Lossless will produce an identical sound to AIFF. AIFF isn't actually a codec/compression method (like Apple Lossless), it's simply a file container. This 'AIFF' container would then contain 'PCM' audio (what is found on CDs). An AIFF file could contain say, MP3 or even Apple Lossless.

  • Re: Troubles connecting an external DVD player to Beovision 6-26

Under the 'Connections' menu, you must assign the socket your DVD player is connected to to a button on your remote. The 'AV' function isn't for enabling a scart input, it allows you to listen to a B&O sound system through the TV's speakers at the same time as watching something else.

  • Re: BeoVision 7 32 vs 40

The BeoSystem 3 is definitely worth it's cost. Try and find a system which will do all the BeoSystem 3 does for the same cost (excluding amps, speakers, and a screen) or less and I'll be impressed. That's not even taking into account the quality of the image processing etc... which is going on. A good surround sound decoder (without any kind of source

  • Re: BeoVision 7 32 vs 40

The BeoSystem 3 is worth ~£5k, more than a whole BV7-32 (without the speaker), that's what I'd be caring about It's the BeoSystem 3 chassis in the 7-40 which make it such a mind-numbingly-stunning set, and far more than justifies the price IMO.

  • Re: BV 7-40 w/o BL9 on menu and w/o 5.1

I would choose either BeoLab 1s or BeoLab 5s in place of the BeoLab 9s. When you say the '5.1 sound system', what exactly do you mean?

  • Re: iPod integration

An iPod is a perfectly viable hifi source when you're listening past 192kbps IMO, I can more than happily listen to my 80 gb (previous generation) iPod through my Beosystem...

  • Re: Beovox 2702 & Beolab 1700 + Ipod?

This should help. The speakers certainly are very good indeed, although the bass driver foam surrounds will have almost certainly perished, making them unusable. Not to worry though, as they can be easily repaired, and the BeoVoxes of this period generally perform very well. I have personally never used them myself, but simply going from their very

I spent £60 on a Philips DVD player from Dixons. Upscaling and all, and can play DivX movies off the built-in drive or from a USB key. Quick to respond too and produces a good picture.
