wonderfulelectric: I thought back in the early 2000s B&O was planning to move into making professional loudspakers, what happened to that plan? BeoLab 9. Began life as an active monitor for studio work, and morphed into what you see now. BeoLab 3 is considered to be the truest speaker in the acoustic lens range by audiophiles, by the way. (Basing

wonderfulelectric: Sounds like the Beolab 5s are the most sought after high end loudspeakers in this forum. Maybe B&O should take notice and build an even more ambitious one, one that has no compromises. Why does B&O has such a narrow selection of loudspeakers. Look at the options offered by manufacturers way smaller than them, they have selection

Very interesting review in NYTimes, from David Pogue. Think I may be in the market for this one, because of the HD-video function. Being able to play around with SLR-lenses and HD-video is going to be joy. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/28/technology/personaltech/28pogue.html

Dave Moulton: Soundproof really has a good handle on the BL5's virtues ... You're way too kind, Dave. That's some potential sig-line, though, I could end my posts with that: "Soundproof really has a good handle on the BL5's virtues" - Dave Moulton Still learning, and what I find encouraging is that more and more attention is

Here are the speakers I was considering, before settling on BeoLab 5. But look at all the unnecessary hardware - compared to this:

People at the office are wondering why I am laughing with tears streaming down my face!

Yes, Mr. 10%, you are perfectly right. What astonishes me is how simple the BL5s are to use, and to what brilliant effect - and that's the point. I prefer sitting in my listening chair, enjoying the music, not tweaking about endlessly -- I like to use the analogy of being the guest in a Michelin restaurant, instead of toiling away in its kitchen

When you adjust for sound pressure level from an analog source and a digital source (ensuring that what you hear from the BL5s through digi-coax and analog line-in have the same weight/sound level) then it's really hard to tell the two apart. Trust me - I have tried and tried -- the reason one initially thinks that the digi-feed is better is because

wonderfulelectric: Hello Soundproof. Beolab 5s were groundbreaking when it just came out but with the lack of software oriented DSP to keep up with the current times, it is actually starting to lose out. Now you can get better than Beolab5s in room frequency response by just getting a high-surround processor or a DSP. Having said that Beolab5s are still

Alex: expoman: In the 80's B&O used Seas drivers in the Penta's which are highly regarded drivers made in Norway. There are some now who say that the current Peerless or Vifa drivers used in the Beolab 5 are selected only for price and are not the best choice for a speaker of that price range. This is only one example of that possible debate
