Martin, Absolutely fantastic! It's great to see an electrician with so much passion. It's a shame you're not in the NE US, I'd be giving you a call. Please keep posting pics as you complete more of these top notch installs. -Trip

Minor disagreements aside, I've been arguing since the BeoSound 2 came out (I had owned my first mac for less than a year at that point) that their logic for less mac support was rubbish. Their claim was that 97% of computer users used windows, which, while true, ignores that less than 1% of people in the world own B&O and, of that elite group

It appears as though the .m4a container / Apple lossless codec is available for download here for the Windows platform. I'll play around and see if it works. It has appeared so far that any codec installed on the underlying OS adds support in the program itself. That would mean with some minor "modding" we can put our Apple Lossless files

Boot it in windows and use IE to go to the DIVX website and download the codec pack. Install it on the underlying computer then go back into BeoSound 5 mode. Now video should work brilliantly on the BeoMaster 5. Admittedly I have way more DVD rips than HD, but it all looks great. I think the reason they don't officially support it is that most of

I can assure you that after careful consultation with myself, we have decided that I am not wrong! Our integration with Apple right now is pitch perfect in terms of the relationship between the two devices. Any improvement would be (I think we're all in agreement here) in the adoption of more media formats so a wider variety of file types can be

Mark, I'm a B&O dealer, so I'll give you my perspective. The way you've gone about this post, I assume that you're a pretty reasonable guy to deal with. When a client (even one who doesn't have past purchases to leverage) is reasonable and candid, negotiations are generally quick and smooth. I'm likely to tell someone exactly

I'd be weary of us relying on any one solution/path/provider/platform/format, etc. Apple has had a hell of a run, but I can't imagine it will last. Our current strategy, while not as refined (we probably agree fully there) as I'd like, is likely the best one. Though 8 out of 10 people I see to use iTunes, those that don't or those adventurous

What do I use to connect my RogerLabs to my RogerSound? TimLink?

You can convert Apple Lossless to WAV in iTunes. It might be easier to go with a supported format than tweaking to get an unsupported one on board. I went through something similar with FLAC. Got the BS5 to support it, but album artwork wasn't (or at least didn't seem) possible.

I think we need to be careful what we say when we say things like "with a decent source." The fact of the matter is that HD screens look better with HD content and SD screens look better with SD. While the Avant is king among 480p tube televisions, it can't hold a candle to HD content on a 720p or 1080p BeoVision.
