Fair enough! Hifi is more about the music than the sound, but I agree with kokomo, in that while A Day In The Life is an amazing recording for it's time, it's nothing in comparison to recordings that were done even a few years later, such as Dark Side Of The Moon (which wouldn't have sounded as good where it not for Sgt. Pepper in the first place).

I'd say so. The BeoLab 2 is capable of producing much more bass than the BeoLab 9s themselves can, and will also produce sound deeper too, although it's not needed most of the time, the BeoLab 9s are capable of producing far more bass than you would expect from a small pair of speakers.

The MacMini doesn't really have a 'native' resolution as such, the native resolution is more to do with the display/processor (in this case, the BeoSystem 3). I would select a slightly lower resolution, and allow the BeoSystem 3 to do all the upscaling. If you select a high-resolution output, then the BeoSystem 3 is expecting a high-resolution image

9 LEE: Alex: Either that or stripey pink & yellow with red lightening bolts along the top. another one that didn't read the first post... Yeh but I said stripes , not spots .

More like two conversion stages. Apple Lossless > AppleTV > digital out to BL5s = identical to CD.

Depends on the amplifier/speakers too, if you're using BeoLab 5s, then as long as the CD player has a digital output, there's no need to worry about the differences. With something like a pair of CX50s, CX100s or some of the smaller 'S' range of speakers, I doubt you'd hear much difference!

No, I believe the Apple TV will output a straight PCM signal unless you ask it to do surround sound...

My favourite test tracks include: Fleetwood Mac - You Make Loving Fun (not the remastered the version, only the version which is on Rumours) Fleetwood Mac - Dreams (again, same as above) Radiohead - Morning Bell (Kid A version) Röyksopp - Sparks Massive Attack - Unfinished Sympathy To name just a few. I mainly use these because they're well recorded
