  • Beomaster 6000

Hello everyone, I have just purchased a mint Beomaster 6000 with remote, manual, box, even original invoice ! It was fully revised in 2004 by a B&O center, and it works nicely. The only thing is that the volume is a bit spitty in operation. Should I consider: -a defective electrolytic (which I know by experience produces this, but what about the

Bonsoir, S'il a une entrée phono, oui ! Il faut juste un câble DIN vers CINCH. La 6006 est une bonne platine qui mérite une bonne cellule, si possible une Soundsmith !

  • Re: Beogram 8000 issues

Hello, I had a similar problem with my platter stopping in the middle of a record. It was just a bad solder at a connector's base.

True. The resistive load also affects the response of MMs. I settled for 56k a long time ago. I felt it gave a more dynamic sound with many cartridges, especially Shures (I had a V15IV for many years). Perhaps I should now try other values. B&O do use 47k in their RIAA preamps.

At the moment I'm leading A-B comparisons between CD and LP. On the CD side, a Beogram CD-3300, a Pioneer DV-717, a Philips CD-720 (heavily modified), a Micromega (CDM4/TDA 1541A). On the LP side, the '8000 courtesy of SMMC20EN. Grace Jones's Nightclubbing. Oh my god! CD seems sluggish, little bass, flat treble with less detail. It seems

So you're as happy as I am. Great! Once the cartridge has settled a bit, treble becomes really beautiful, defined but not harsh. Don't worry. What a nice cartridge! And I've only got an EN! I've gotten used to that black body, really... a little price to pay (no pun intended dear friend) considering the leap in sound quality.

  • Re: Cueing/lowering issue with Beogram 8000

Hi, Please, please don't start fussing about until you've checked all solder joints at connectors. My 6006 kept having random problems, including yours and it was completely sorted out after resoldering. Beware though, you can't see bad solders unless you use some magnifying glass to do your inspection. Look at P3 and P4 first. Hope that

  • Re: Cartridge Exercise?

Hi, My point was that digitally recorded LPs sound like CD. Analogue records sound beautiful, way better than CD. For ex. even my old well-worn The Wall LP from 1980, played hundreds of times, sound much better. How could it be otherwise? And you know that these days, non-audiophile LPs are made using... the CD version!

I understand the "blackness" argument about Soundsmith cartridges. But I love my SMMC20EN. It sounds gorgeous, but it is unforgiving to so-so records. Also digitally recorded ones sound like CD! I too was contemplating having my CL re-tipped by Axel for € 159, but I don't need it anymore now.

  • Re: Cartridge Exercise?

Sorry to interfere again! Just to confirm the Beogram 8000 is a superb deck that trounces ALL the other turntables I've possessed (Dual, Thorens, Barthe, Technics just to name a few). Pity so many people just look down on them. Whenever I tell people from the hi-fi community about B&O stuff, I just get a loud laughter, "yeah right"
