As knowone else has asked yet I will have a go... Not sure if this makes sense.. is this when the arm is moving to engage a 7" 45 record that you get this problem?

That's good to hear :) Yes I was very careful when centering but it can be done on the diaphram - You can see an edge that the coil sticks too but get this dead right, make sure the coil isn't mis-shapen. Hope the repairers do a good job for you!

IMO Sniping is all part of the game :) It is a pitty you didn't get the beomaster for such a silly thing as shipping - I would leave this option unticked and just reject anyone who ignored my conditions, unless otherwise arranged!

Not only does it look quite nice ATM it also looks very professional well done :) Can't wait to see it complete :)

Well if I were you I would try the transistors for what they cost and then consider the 4 hour drive but I can understand why you might be worried. of course, if there is anything wrong further upstream then things start getting quite complicated, although a meter should surfice for quite a bit of ff work but more than likely beyond remote help. Have you thoroughly checked the screen connection in the DIN plug? If not it might be easiest to remove the right hand panel and use a meter to check continuity all the way through to the RCA plugs and trailing earth.

Thanks Jon that is a very nice explanation - Perhaps you could write an article for Beoworld, I think the more technical subjects (described in leymens terms) like this are missing tbh!

Personally I would replace 28, 31, 29 and 30. tr30 definately goosed and the other readings aren't correct. Not sure what you mean by 'ce not OL'? Of course you could buy x amount off Dillen or other source like ebay (maybe get a cap and belt kit too?) and replace all 8 as you normally buy these components in multiples of 5 ect.. That would

There is clearly at least one transistor that has an internal short - either tr30 or 32 maybe both. When testing transistors I normally isolate the base or any two of the legs and perform b-e > b-c then e-c So say on TR31 which is an NPN type you want to do the following.. positive lead goes on base, now between base & emitter =0.6v then base

Hi Jon you sound quite knowlegable with these speakers, I would like to know a little more about the uniphase concept myself if you wouldn't mind spending a moment... Am I right in thinking B&O took a rather unpopular approach to three way speaker design?
