wonderfulelectric: I mean the Beosound 9000 was not even advanced in it's time and I am afraid it is even more so now. Good thing is that soon maybe even normal 16bit cds can sound like vinyl minus the noise. Wonderfulelectric, I would like to challenge your assumptions about the quality of the BeoSound 9000. In fact, I would defy you to hear a

When I saw the Timer in the set-up, I was hoping I could set program starts on/off on the TV, but that's not possible. But I have it connected via ML and a converter to my Beosystem 6500, and have set up a wake-up alarm with a radio station on that. Works perfectly, with the BV8 initiating the Beosystem. Also works with CD, record player, etc. Also

I agree, Mr. 10 Percent - what people want is a trouble-free, one-click solution to digital playback of A/V content, and if it's elegantly designed that wouldn't hurt. While I've been able to set up computer playback, it will require some know-how, and it does require the occasional reset. Units such as BS5, Sooloos, Sonos and others deliver

Jitter worries are nonsense. A reviewer in Absolute Sound claimed he could distinguish between 8 and 15 picoseconds of jitter, as produced by a component in two different modes. That is, he could note a 7 picosecond difference. This is a potential distortion of 0,000308% There are amplifiers judged to be excellent that produce 4% distortion. A write

petermc: I have Beolab 5 speakers. I don't currently use a computer for my music as I don't like the quality of the sound. If I can load all my CD's on the BS 5, turn the computer off, access all the albums easily and can't tell the difference between the CD and the BS 5 I'll be happy. Peter Today, music is recorded on/by computers

mobeyone: Yawn... typo but amazing how pedantic people can be sometimes..... my point remains the same and if you subscribe to a site who reviews andything and everything then good for you, I dont! Mobeyone - yes, very pedantic. But I got the impression the name itself didn't say much to you, and my major point was to indicate its origins. Gizmo

I agree, the Welt is spectacular. What's amazing about the Leipzig factory is that the cars under assembly are moving through the administration area with no sound. You can walk about, converse and work without sensing that the moving line is a disturbance. Anyone wanting an impression of BMW quality can just be placed on the mezzanine there - no

Zaha Hadid's work on the Leipzig BMW-plant is stunning - including the principle of having the suits be in the middle of the production and assembly line. http://www.arcspace.com/architects/hadid/bmw_central/bmw_central.html

Hi wtlc... It's a minor point. Mobeyone was wondering how anything could be called gizmondo (with an n), and I pointed out the origin of the name.

mobeyone: linder: Razlaw: Bang & Olufsen's BeoSound 5 controller in the wild? - Engadget Engadget always says unkind things about Bang & Olufsen. IMO, not sure how anyone can take anything seriously when your called gizmoNdo ! Especially when you're not called gizmondo. Gizmo is well known, and adding -do points to Ju-do, Ken-do, etc
