The 7-40 uses the BeoSystem 3 as it's brain, which IMO produces the best picture on the market. The BeoVision 5 uses a modified Avant chassis I believe, which you may find slightly limiting...

Ask the seller if he can have them unplugged from the mains for at least half an hour before you collect them, then ask him to enter the PIN code etc... as you arrive, and also run through the whole calibration process. Check them as Soundproof says, at all volume (don't worry about turning them up to loud, they're incredibly robust speakers), protection

BeoLab 4000s are ideal as rears, as they can be positioned more flexibly than BeoLab 8000s and therefore positioned high up (which is where rear speakers should be placed).

Indeed it is a masterpiece. In fact so much so that I may go and listen to it now.

That doesn't mean it'll always be better though, the BeoLab 2 will often just end up confusing the sound in a small to large/medium room. The BeoLab 9s can produce oodles of bass by themselves!

beocool: The Cinematic Orchestra - To build a Home Excellent song, and the album is equally excellent too. Overall, it's a little more poppy/mushy than their other albums though. I bought Man With A Movie Camera a few weeks ago, and boy is that an incredible album, regardless of the fact that it's all recorded live in the studio. Excellently recorded

vlohjr1: agree alex although I had another good listen the other day and found bl9 a little 'unbalanced', very clear sharp treble and mid range and bass a little unclear and muffled, i thinks bl2 is required. none the less for such size bl9 are very good speakers I didn't mean the BeoLab 2 is required with BeoLab 9s, merely that in a large-medium
