If Beoworld wants to maintain its status as the premier site (which it has done well at so far) it should consider catering to the larger growing audiences and figure out how to attract and maintain this broader base of users. Forums that cater towards high-end product users such as one of my favorite sites www.ferrarichat
Otherwise, after adjusting everything (quiescent current, FM settings) there is no noise at all, but the transformer itself hums quite a bit! The sound is good. I haven't replaced the three big caps. Would that make a difference?
Nice piece of kit! I'm afraid the transformer hum will not go away with

Yes, that could be a solution for that part of the problem. No need to duplicate the list of products as it is already in the database (I dunno how complete it is though, but I suppose all modern time, real products are in there). Perhaps you'll find the thread by searching the forum (there's A LOT on this subject). The original spare part sometimes (very rarely) appears on fleaBay, so you might just try your

I remember somebody demonstrating a DIY Beo4 display backlight on the forum quite recently.

The shaft has the same part number (2830049) in both service manuals, so I suppose they would be identical... I don't think it would be very difficult to manufacture a replacement from generic threaded brass either, perhaps using the pulley end of the old shaft.

Wasn't too keen on doing it on my camera either But there wasn't much to lose, it was only fit for scrap without a display, the donor cost me 20 euros or something, and I really wanted to keep it instead of getting another compact with substandard usability. This has a decent optical viewfinder, for example.
