My advice - I know what it is like when you really want something for a long time and decide to treat yourself. Then something unfortunate happens such as the above which prevents you from "loving" your prized purchase. I think even if you sorted them out you will never feel the same about them. I sometimes have it with cars - Accident damage

Petition signed. I had trouble right outside my apartment in Leicester town centre last night. Lots of shouting, sirens and about 5 hours of Police Helicopters! Judging by your comments, I am guessing you want some speakers which can move some real air! I'd recommend a pair of used Pentas or 3's budget permitting as a starting point (I know the pentas are old), rather than 4000s, with a view to upgrading to say Beolab 8000/Beolab 3 & Beolab 2 at a later date.
