LED sensor mod/replacement: see the abovementioned PDF, section 8. I've just got a BeoGram 4000 in for restoration - not in great shape at all - I picked it up off the kerb from a moving sale - I'll be posting progress as I go along, in a new thread. Menahem

I'm not sure I understand - it's a plastic ruler, with printed markings, and 3 screws to hold it down. How can it be skewed, other than it not being secured properly with the screws? In the pdf which covers all the details, see section 9 for the ruler issues. B&O BeoGram 4002, 6000 Turntable Restoration Repair Menahem

The tuner section is voltage controlled, with a Zener Diode to set the voltage. On some models, the Zener is a Temperature-controlled ZTK type, on other models, it is a regular BZX type. If that Zener is faulty, you'll get exactly the symptoms you're having. Bear in mind that Zener's do NOT fail willy-nilly, but from overstress - likely

Hi all, I have a request from the owner of a malfunctioning BeoMaster 5000 in Naples Florida. From initial email diagnosis, appears to be the relays and potis. Probably some capacitors as well. Anyone in that area who would like to take this on? I will provide any additional technical help required. Menahem

You can use the BG6000 QUAD as a regular stereo record player without the quad capability, by just selecting the CD4 switch to OFF. The sensor for the 30kHz CD4 carrier signal is thus disabled, and only the stereo RIAA function of the preamplifier will operate. Think of the 6000 as a 4002 with one extra - the built-in RIAA amplifier. If your main amplifier

"I have also noticed a strange, brown crumbly crust below the relay. Not sure what this could be." It's the remains of the cork insulator between the relay and the PCB. Your relay was running HOT, and so it "cooked the cork" To prevent damage to the PCB, it's advisable to insulate the relay from the PCB with some other substance

OK, here's my 2 cents worth Firstly, you're all doing a great job! Keep it up. Secondly, here's a link to a similar relay V23012-A2105-B001. http://cgi.ebay.com/RELAY-V23012-A2105-B001-SIEMENS-24V-PCB-mount-/190493854232 Now, pay attention , because this is the really important part. I have no idea if the advertised relay will work, because

I'm waiting to hear the good news! For that 45rpm problem, just a wild guess - check that the solder blobs on the thin PCB holding the 2 24V lamps are all correct with no blobs touching adjacent ones. If you find a workable solution for the aluminium, we'd definitely like to know about it. Menahem
