Somewhat related.... Any fans of Nixie tubes out there?
My wife has named our BL3s "death vases". I have subsequently requested in my will that my ashes are stored in the casing of my BL3s. :)
I didn't think they had a resonance problem
Its a pleasure to have these discussions as I learn from them.
Exactly the correct attitude! I've worked in and around consumer/pro audio most of my life, and I've learned a lot from Beoworld - even if I've sometimes looked a bit daft when I'd got it wrong. But...nobody jumped on me and started
Trust me, a self-oscillating DC coupled amplifier running at 100KHz at full power until something goes wrong, is not something you would like to experience. It goes off with a bang. Your tweeters won't like it either. Martin
...or the local bat population... Seriously though, while I've long been an advocate
I do not have to consult anyone on this, my strategy is: First get the speakers, then the wife....
A strategy for which you deserve applause! But what happens at upgrade time? Or will that include the wife also?

It's a great looking room - love the lamps!
If I were to choose, what should it be - BeoLab 5 or BeoLab 9?
Well in my case, Natalia has said "нет" to "the aliens" but "да" to "the penguins"

Hi Chris Yes. they are fragile little devils. I've cleaned it well, but as you say, it could well be knickered.... That said, 90% of zebra strip problems are because it is not connecting to the LED glass. As the Beocom LCD contacts are metal, I tried holding the contacts of the screen directly on the pads on the board hoping for a flicker to help

Hi Simon I had thought about that, but if the main PCB is ok and it is just the LCD that's gone, a replacement LCD should turn up (perhaps on Beoworld ) for a good deal less than the £50-or-so upgrade kit - assuming I can persuade the dealer to sell me one of course.... Seems a shame to bin a perfectly good board - I hate throwing things away

Hello all I've just bought what I assume is a Mk1 (no earphone socket) Beocom 6000 + table charger + PSTN from German eBay. This was all 1 item from the same vendor. It was listed as faulty, because it got dropped in the bath. Having got it here, and letting it charge, it seems to be working, or at least as much as I can tell, as the LCD is blank
