If you are struggling with getting something fixed, your dealer quoted you an outrageous price and the Workshop forum leaves you wondering whether you really should be picking up that soldering iron, then why not drop me a line and see if I can help out. Based in the South East of England, free quotations and sensible rates. Neil

You will notice that the encumbent designs are perforated or "frame only" designs to get around this very issue. If I had a pound for every tv repair I did because someone wanted to keep their tv in a cupboard (dont ask) then I would have enough money for a new A9 ;) Neil

The "official" ones from B and O are about £25 a piece ... ahem ... we wont be using those!!! I have found another "source" which come in about a quarter of the price, I will let you know how I get on. The second amp (which had a different fault) is now up and running nicely ... I am very pleased :) Thanks for your help guys

I would beware of using anything with a solid construction such as this as it does not allow the required airflow. The danger is that the TV will run hotter internally than designed and it could significantly shorten the life. Regards, Neil

Nick + others, Seems that the main supply caps are at the end of their life ... one is a direct short ... not good! Do you have a reliable source or choice for these? Neil
-
Thanks guys ... but i have just found that before i can get to that, I have to get the orange light off ;)

Top response from Graham there ... take it from a man who knows! The other thing to consider ... does she have a large room ... the Avant 32 is "extremely imposing" in a small room and quite a contrast from the BV6. Neil

The service manual is rather unhelpful in its description ... it says connect voltmeter to 1R103/1R104 ... does this mean across the two resistors ... ie looking for 15mV on each? or 30mV across each resistor? Neil
