Hello, I can "see" the arm on my BG 8000 moves constantly (one rotation of the shaft/platter turn or thereabouts: I can't see the arm move really, like a clock!) as on my 6006 it moves every two or three turns of the platter (sometimes more), and I can see the arm move. I've tried adjusting the aperture screw but it only gets worse

Yes of course Jeff, I will! Once again, I think this mech is great, but the plastics weren't too reliable. But then again, did they think crazy people would still be using them thirty years later? Anyway my Beocord sounds absolutely superb. Cheers, Jacques

Okay, I think I've figured out the problem: the bearing housing of the cracked part has two bearings in fact. The lower one was pushed too far inside the housing, hence the white pulley being too close to the flying wheel and this caused the belt fouling the flywheel permanently. Oh dear. It seems that on Jeff's part the bearing is a little

The 4002 looks superb, just the lid isn't so perfect really, but this can be fixed. The platter shouldn't be left in place for shipping though! I say, go for it, but be prepared to have the cart re-tipped!

Hello everyone, Well I didn't take the re-tip route, I got an SMMC20EN from the US of A. The sound is great, but not warm. As I said somewhere else, digitally recorded LPs sound EXACTLY like the CD, maybe a tiny bit better - although it doesn't really make sense, does it? At first it was a bit aggressive but now it is well run-in, it just sounds

Hi, Frankly I haven't heard the TX decks, but I use a Beogram 8000 with a Soundmith MMC and it sounds gorgeous, much better than my brand new SL-1200 mkII with RB 300 arm fitted (which itself is way better than my TD-160 mkII!). Did you win the bid then?

Another problem I've just become aware of is that when I record there is wow, and a piano note sounds like a bell or a Hammond organ... Otherwise the sound is great, lots of nice treble detail and good imaging, even with Dolby on (this is an IEC version). Bass is good too. With my pre-recorded tapes this is not really audible, I suppose that when

Hello! The drillings to stop the cracks is a genius's idea! Congratulations Jeff! Thank you so much for that! Jacques
-
Hello, Well I'm not too sure about that. I've got two Beogram 6006/8000 (same lid then) and using the same method , one came out crystal clear and the other one, no matter what, came out nicely polished too but not completely clear. I made sure the underside was clean and shiny as well of course! Different batches?

Hi Jeff, Looking forward to seeing what you will have done! Jacques
