Does the amp return to previous operation when power is restored? If so to me it would seem that the circuit simply lasts long enough to remain mute once the amp is powered and ready and everything else is stable (the RIAA amp itself). I would have thought the record player would reset the arm after a powercut if it was unable during!

Do these decks leave the stylus on the record in the event of a power cut? (I get the impression they do).

I am surprised knowone has helped you here SOundproof I have personally never got my hands on newer turntables so cannot really comment with any authority. However I would suggest the upper cam does not appear to be in a resting position. Whether things have jumped / slipped I don't know I am sure the manual could help? One last thing - I believe

Check that the servo belt is still in place and not slipping under the right hand panel.

I have noticed the AC motor bearing (at least in my 4000) is a much higher tolerance! However as others have said while there is play in the bearing it is unoticable when the platter sits on top and you use the player. As long as the platter sits level then all should be well. You will have to tell us what you think of your new deck when set up :)

@ tournedos I would just like to see it work tbh. Bearing in mind this is the most advanced B&O I personally own, so it will be quite a leap forward ! I actually have the diagram for the 4004 which came with the deck so that side is not a problem.

Interesting about the pins Martin. I am 90% sure these are sockets as they look like tiny brass collars with a hole in.

yes Martin, two to be exact :) Do you have any? What do you think to converting the 2400 to control the 4004? I might even dust off my pic programmer if that could possibly make things more compact and easier to do!
