Yes the CD5500 will work perfectly with the 5000 system so will the later CD6500 & CD7000 as they are basically the same machine but not as good a cosmetic match. What is the problem with your CD50? These are almost always repairable. Chris.

A very familiar story where people replace these drivers with so called "better" units only to be disappointed with the results. One of our members (jOhnbarker) replaced the bass drivers in his MC120.2's with some Peerless 830667 units of very similar specifications with good results by all accounts. It may well be worth taking a look

If they need refoaming then the sooner you do it the better. Playing speakers with degraded foam surrounds has a high risk of damaging the drive coils and if that happens then they are ruined. I would strongly recommend replacing the capacitors in the crossovers at the same time as this too can have a big affect on the sound quality. Member Dillen

I too would give it a go at 1.2g. The lower the tracking force the better as it puts less wear & tear on both your vinyl & the stylus itself. Chris.

one of the worst jobs I ever did was rethread the dial cord on a Beolit 700. It really is one of the most frustrating things I've ever done and the *&%$@ thing nearly went through the window on several occasions.
