I would get the book first - a browse through the Beocentral site is not a bad thing to do either.

You will need to open up the Beogram - I also wouldn't! Graham is quite right about the amplifiers. You really need a MCL2P which will effectively make you passive speakers behave as if they were active. The MLC/ML converter and Beolink Passive are really the same thing but with other features you don't need. Essentially the same thing though

It has 6 PUC IR ports, one for each input.

You can use a RIAA deck with the 9500 if you remove the 6 and 7 pins in the DIN plug and plug it into the Tape 2 or Aux socket. No remote control of the record player though. I would suggest selling the RIAA equipped Beogram and buying a non RIAA one - you should make a reasonable profit.

Very good advice from Andy. Tim and Nick's book is superb and shows a good number of systems with excellent summaries. The only problem is you will want more than one. I wouldn't worry about the power output - most music will be listened to at about 1W. Bass output is what annoys neighbours - for passive speakers, the MS150/M100 will produce

Beoworld is delighted to announce that Mika (Tournedos) has agreed to become the latest addition to the moderating team. Many of us know him already and he has always been both quick and informative in his replies. Beoworld is only as good as its contributors and Mika has shown himself to be up there with the best. As you know, we actually need to moderate

You need to update the Beoport software. There is a link here .

The white key and black key are completely different - the white key use the early germanium transistors. Martin is the world expert on the Beomaster 1000 - there are a ridiculous number of variants and Martin has almost if not all of them. The black 1000 was Jacob Jensen's first project for B&O - he had to redesign the white key model.

I would strongly suggest using vintage speakers. They really suit this amplifier. I have had both a white and black key model and both sounded very good through speakers of the correct era. Beovox 1000s are the obvious choice but any of this range.

Good point - very cheap now and excellent sound. the 7700 is the one to get of course. If I could only have one system and it had to serve the whole house and be approved by the wife, the Beocenter 9500 would be my choice though. Not such a good amplifier but works with everything and very versatile.
