  • Toddlers & B&O

Ok so what the heck is it about my 9 month old son and my s120's and Beogram 4002? The S120's are on stands without the frets as they need work and are rather delicate imo... The 4002 is currently in reach and quite low but under a shelf so only the front is accessable. Now for some reason, out of all the items in our room he loves my speakers

  • Re: 4002 worth repairing/restoring?

Wow, that's quite a journey! The deck doesn't look too bad at a distance, I would certainly try to recover that if nothing is bent out of shape or if the transformer is the worst of the damage - IMO these decks look great without the dust cover anyway although of course dust is the enemy. Did B&O recess those lid screws to purposly allow

  • Re: Cartridge repair

How do the MMC20 range fair with a retip..? Does he chop the end off like the later range or is he more restricted...? Last I checked there were only the MMC x range on his site...

  • Re: Beosound 9000 sound quality

I think What HiFi have changed their tune toward B&O - I think one of the members went to the factory and was quite surprised at the lengths they go to create a natural sound... I guess it might depend on the reviewer..?

  • Re: DIN to RCA conversion - possible?

It wouldn't be too difficult to remove the DIN lead altogether and replace with figure 8 with RCA - easiest way here would be to buy a ready made rca lead what ever quality you want and chop one end off. That way the original lead stays intact and you can store it somewhere safe. Personally I use a DIN > phono as arlready mentioned.

  • Re: Beogram 4002 no arm movement

Ok when you replaced transistors TR19 & 20 did you replace them at the same time? I am wondering if you replaced say tr20, with tr19 being faulty then tr19 with the now tr20 faulty etc... Other than disconnect the motor and make sure there is no short at the emitters of tr20 and 22 and as Mika says check motor with psu or batteries. Also diodes

  • Re: best record player

Yes, £410 was the last 4000 to finish on ebay yesterday, and IMO it did not look mint as described and I would question the authority of it's sudden hasty service.... A note about the 4004 there were units that were upgradable to the RIAA / CD4 I had one about 20 years ago that was complete with CD4 switch on the right hand side of chassis

  • Re: How do I get one of these???

Motorized beovisions (LX range) go for next to nothing when faulty, I paid £5! No remote though.. About £4 to fix in components. Same limitaion as you mate so for now it would have to be a little more realistic than a Beolab 5 hehe. For me a Beomaster 6000 with Beogram 6000 and a couple of quad disks all complete and mint would be VERY nice

  • Re: Beomaster 5500 restoration project

Ideally you need an anti-static workmat. Not cheap but worth the investment. Found at any decent electronics store RS Farnel ebay?? etc.. At the very least, make sure are not wearing synthetic clothes and same with the carpet, and use an antistatic wrist strap which are cheap enough and a good earth point like socket / radiator etc... edit to add there
