I am thinking that there may be be a fault in the IR receiver or perhaps it's amplifier. I will try to isolate.
-
I had this exact problem and it turned out to be a defective tweeter in one of the speakers. Suggest you check the speakers or the cables for a small short from a strand of wire.
Thanks to a good friend, I now have the proper service manual and here is the NVRAM reset procedure: To enter Testmode, press "Radio" (on the MCP or Beolink 1000) and short 4TP1 briefly. 4TP1 is found at the solderside of the processor board, right behind the leftmost of the two large connectors. Be careful
-
It's good........but it's not right. Try again!!!
-
How do you trigger "Test Mode". I have scoured the board and the circuit diagram and can't find a shorting point!
Just out of interest... I've never seen this part in situ but I can see from the link that Graham posted the bag contains a number of bits - if only the plastic cap was re manufacturered would this solve the problem and you could use the original spring etc? Steve
Yes, in 99% of cases. The kit, from memory

I have replaced both belts and cleaned the tracks on my BC9000. If I switch the BC on, open both lids and press standby, the cassette lid closes first, then the CD's. The difference is small but clearly notable and everytime the same so it's not a random cause of friction
-
I am afraid that these are as rare as hens teeth and their failure has caused many a good BC9000 to be consigned to the skip! Except!!!!!!!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120523114071&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
