  • Re: BM 6000 Quad tuning string!

I've seen many different substitutes, fishing line etc. but there's really nothing like working with real dial string. It's still available from many suppliers and it's not particularly costly. Get a 3 meter piece or so (if you can buy as little as that) and you will have enough to allow for eventual mistakes. The length will be corrected

  • Re: Beocenter 9000 has stoped reading CDs. Please help.

If you buy test CD's from B&O, they will sell you a nice Philips set. It's quite expensive (around 300 euros I think) and I can't help thinking that it would be cheaper if ordered directly from Philips or elsewhere. Only worth it if you do CD repairs regularly. The "next best" thing as mentioned above will do fine for the occasional

[quote user="yachadm"] Graham, No flak at all - I also don't have any special "test-cd". In fact I use a CD-R which I burned. If I calibrate it for this, it will read anything. Cableguy - This is how you want to adjust the Laser, as Graham said, you've done only the first stage of three. The second stage is adjusting the

  • Re: About the signal path capacitors

[quote user="yachadm"] Agent, "This was the worst piece of crap I have read in a very long time! Yes, of course it will be good at blocking DC. But it will block your bass range too! " With all due respect, your comments overstepped your mark. I specified that these are the signal-path COUPLING capacitors, not decoupling. You are

Metal

  • Re: BM 6000 Quad tuning string!

Thanks, your support is greatly appreciated ! I remember doing one of these a couple of years ago and I had it all put nicely together only to find out I had the tuning wheel rotating in the wrong direction. Direction of string travel is worth noting as the first thing. Then, when you have the path worked out, work in small steps, using pieces of masking

  • Re: Beomaster 1600 Maintenance

Welcome to Beoworld ! The Beomaster 1600 and 1700 tractor belts work through a set of rubber clutch washers that wears down. They start to slip when friction is lost. The volume control is usually the first one to lose friction since it sees most use and is coupled in at all times (while not adjusting other settings). The service manual will not tell

  • Re: It Lives !!

I never tried that but it looks like a decent replacement. A bit slower but even 120MHz should still be within limits. Check the voltage supplied to the IC. Martin
