• Re: Beogram 4002 no arm movement

Yes the solenoid probably draws about 3 amps for 20ms or so - There will be quite a strain on the supply! Regards the bulb, you mean the detector bulb? If so yes R36 and TR5 is effectivly a potenial divider delivering 9v to 15v ZD17. Bulb fails voltage raises and ZD17 breaks down forward biasing TR6. If you mean the 33 bulb then there is no effect as

  • Re: My Beogram 4002: one man's opinion!

Hi Jaques there is no need as there are 4002 - 6000's with the Beogram 4000 platters and motors I would be almost certain they have the same bearings! I think the consensus is they used up old stock before economising a little :) However I think it was Peter above who said he could never hear in difference in performance between the different decks

Nice shot Mika! Thinking back maybe my motor did have a red back end... Looked at my spare metal motor last night (with grey back end) and this has a similar hole revealing leaf brushes. No cap though. Obviously very nice motors but I would have thought they would have used carbon brushes...? Regarding the compressed foam I suspect it will make little

Have you got a piccy of your motor. I don't remember a red cap but I will check. My 4000 has a clear end cap which allows you to see the brushes but sure they aren't accesable. my other spare has a grey plastic end. There are obviously a few varieties! My name is Olly BTW. I must do a 'Mika' and put my name down in my sig!

  • Re: Cartridge choices - an independent test
The Beogram 4002 has hard rubber "ribs" giving very marginal support to the vinyl records played (easily measured in reviews).
Is this really measurable and how does the contact effect tracking to such extent?

Peter are these recordings still available? I am contemplating sending one of my carts off I would like to hear some comparisons...

I wonder if chartz might have removed any lube from the bearing with his contact cleaner. Might be worth pulling apart again and relubing...? I also have a spare all metal motor from an early 4002 which hasn't been run for 20 years. Might give it a whirl see what it sounds like!
it's not like I'm going to need it myself for another week or two
He says as a funny squeel eminates from under the servo panel of his treasured Beogram and all arm movements seize to function (sorry I couldn't resist!)

  • Re: When did you become a Bang & Olufsen fan?

Hi and Welcome :) For me, well my mum had a Beogram 4000 and a Beocentre 4000 (the decent underrated one!) along with S-45's during my very early childhood years. I just about remember walking starwars figures over the Beocentre lids and using it as a death trap lol! Not sure anyone ever caught me doing this though! They both got trashed in two
