Peter: Ho ho! The other B&O speakers to look out for are S45-2s and S120s. Both of these punch way above what you would expect and are cheap. If your S30s are not quite as good, try replacing the capacitors in the cross over. Could be all they need. Hence the comment about them bong the Gateway Drug! I have since bought two pairs of S45-2's

My father still has his resin-backed S30's that he bought brand new in 1977. About 15 years ago I arranged a session for him at a Hi-Fi dealers in Leicester as he was going to upgrade his HiFi. He arrived with the S30's tucked under his arm because he wanted to be sure that any new speakers were better than what he had. They looked down their

Peter: That is a young system!! My most used system dates from the 70s! Peter. I am intrigued by this. You are someone who has exposure to a large proportion of what B&O has to offer and have a 1970's system as the one you listen to most. I am a big fan of the olser systems too, but it made me woncer, what is your most used setup? Simon

Thanks for the replies everyone. I am referring to a Beogram 2200 (thanks Craig) and a Beogram 1902 which both have the same problem. I tried superglue without success on the 1902 but it might be worth another go. The IPS WELD-ON #16 Cement for Acrylic Sheet sounds like what I need, bit I can only find US Suppliers and they are unable to supply internationally

I have two old Beograms that both have a broken hinge on the lids at the RHS on the back. I think this is a fairly common problem on older Beograms. Is there any glue that will successfully repair these hinges or is tracking down a new lid the only solution? Simon

My main B&O interest is in the older stuff (at least until the kids are older and a bit more free cash is available). It comes with the territory that if you are buying 25-30 year old h-fi at bargain prices that there will be issues along the way and this forum has been my lifeline. As this forum has already saved me well over £30, investing

Thanks gents, I think I'll pop out at lunchtime for some tape head cleaner. I have also just pulled the trigger on Craig's Beogram 2200 for 99p (see the for sale section) so I should end up with at least one working turntable and hopefully two once I have ordered another belt. Simon

Amazing! Thanks Peter, I never expected to see it so quickly! Simon

A service manual for a Beogram 1902 or similar would be very much appreciated. Simon

I have just bought a Beogram 1902 via Ebay. When it arrived it was not working at all due to what turned out to be a perished drive belt. I have swapped it for the drive belt from a defunct BeoCenter 2000 and it is now working and sounds excellent. The problem is that there still appears to be some slippage, as the platter takes some time to get going
