It is possible to connect two tape recorders to the Beomaster, as you probably know already - but the issue here is that the output levels (for recording) through the DIN connectors are much lower than the modern RCA equipped recorders expect

The service manual actually tells to adjust the 17 cm setdown first, then the 30 cm. You may need a couple of iterations if you do it the other way, but it doesn't matter as long as the end result is correct. I usually do it without the platter, record and cartridge. I'm sure the antenna has nothing to do with it. It may have been just a temporary confusion in the processor, caused by some random event like a tiny AC power drop. If it happens again, try unplugging from mains for a while so it will reset properly. If the erratic behaviour continues, it may be contact problems in the connectors between the CPU

I don't think so, as the MMC carts are so low weight and tiny in size... You could of course opt for a Sound-Smith SMMC. If I didn't already have an MMC core to send for rebuild, that would always be my first option instead of buying an old MMC!
