The Apple TV outputs at 20-bit, while the Mac mini will output at the resolution of the connected soundcard. The in-built one delivers 24-bit. You can buy lossless (CD-resolution) or higher over the internet, from a growing number of suppliers. I have both the mini and the ATV - like the latter for going to the thousands of free video and audio podcasts

Not entirely certain as to what the thread starter is referring to - but there's some B&O news out of Denmark today. The results for the first 6 months of FY8/9 are in, and turnover is substantially below the first six months of FY7/8. That's no surprise, as mgt had given warning about this in December. The result was slightly better than

The Mac mini is a very sophisticated image processor, with excellent upscaling of DVDs, and with very good treatment of HD signals. Connected properly, it will even handle multi-channel audio at high resolutions. I don't have much experience with BeoSystem 3 as I have BeoLab 5 speakers and require an S/PDIF coax out from the processor to the speakers

bayerische: OK, what I also find strange is that the BL5 is often pictured in a corner and/or very tightly fit to a wall in Beo's own pictures in their brochures for example. I find it a bit strange, since putting them that close to a wall, even if the calibration does wonders can't exactly enhance the sound. You'll get acceptable sound

I was quite instrumental in working on the 2006/7 catalogue, where I set the goal of trying to reintroduce substance into the tale. That was hard going - but the interviews with Dave Moulton, John Mathieson, Hélène Grimaud, Bart de Wever, heads of audio and video, and others survived the grind of resistance, more or less. In spite of this

Have you tried cleaning the "hand sensors"? There are sensors that are supposed to shut down the clamper motion, in case a hand is detected, a child safety measure. Those sensors need to be cleaned if they've dusted up.

Furniture makers and architects who design concrete buildings are great fans of B&O, they have managed to turn the catalogue into a display forum for their products, rather than it being a showcase for the A/V products.

Wonderful. Fine instruments for the reproduction of music -- good theme, excellently presented, with lots of substantial information explaining why B&O is better and different. No wonder that this moment in time also coincided with the beginning of B&O's absolute heyday as an audio company. Compared with today's catalogues, thin on facts

You're right. All they have is the incredibly overwrought and circuitous beosound5.com site, with the horrible music. http://www.beosound5.com/Default.aspx?lang=en

Peter : To be honest, the only current product I lust after is the Beolab 5. I would have them with a Beocenter 2 and an updated Beovision 5 I suppose. However in the real world, I will settle for the Beolab 5000 system that Frede has restored for me! Have you received it, Peter? And I agree on the BL5s - do let me know if you're ever headed towards
