• Re: Apologies for not being able to post today

How about we limit the number of times we answer the same question!!! The digital displays on my new speakers won't work? My MCL2P/some other similar black box amp won't switch on? I have a Beocenter 9000 and the CD has stopped working, what could the trouble be? Can the Beomaster 5000 be controlled with another type of remote? How much is "X"

I don't log the forum downtimes but my impression is that they are more frequent in recent months than they were last year. maybe there are stats available that can prove or disprove this. The forum was certainly down early on the evening of the last prize draw and on another occasion quite recently when you were in flight to Aus or somewhere. I
My apologies for that fact that since about 11am this morning members had not been able to post messages on the forum which I was not aware of until Lee e-mailed me this evening. The problem was that we had run out of SQL database space which I have now increased.
Haven't we been here before and made

  • Re: Why is my stylus inclined?

I don't believe it is anything to do with the tangential system. Cantilevers get bent for all sorts of reasons. The cartridge is probably 20 years old and can have suffered all types of abuse in that time. It may simply be that the suspension has failed due to old age. I have seen cantilevers bent the other way - explain that!!

  • Re: I don't know if this is the right place - but a courier question....
Hi I'm selling a couple of things on eBay and stipulated collection only. A potential bidder wants to know if I'd courier the goods to him. So.... I rang APC - no good. Businesses only. Tried City Link. Minimum weekly charge of £50. Effectively business only. Can anyone recommend a good (cheap!!!) courier
Although I am no expert, I find it hard to believe that there is not a phono preamp that one can buy that will not provide acceptable results. Might have to spring for a decent one costing a few hundred, but these phono stages go up to the thousands of dollars, even 10s of thousands so I'm sure there is one out

  • Re: Datalink Wiring
aha, makes more sense now graham, thank you, I have a complete 5500 system in my bedroom, and the Ouverture in the small lounge downstairs, I have always wanted to connect a later model Beogram with MMC2 cartridge to my Ouverture
Then you will need a Beogram 3500, 4500, 6500 or 7000

  • Re: BC9500 - Beovox Penta or Lab

You won't get big/punchy from BL8000 and I doubt if they will satisfy you. If you like the warm, old fashioned "Penta" sound, you will not get it from a modern speaker, as these genarally, tend to be much colder and more clinical.

  • Re: Low Volume - Beogram 5500 Turntable to Beosound 3200

Sorry Peter but I disagree!! The low cost external RIAA pre-amps are designed to operate with the output from "normal" moving magnet cartridges. The B&O MMC design has a much lower output than "normal" resulting in much higher volume control settings being used on the output amplifier. This has a tendancy to increase the audible

  • Re: Low Volume - Beogram 5500 Turntable to Beosound 3200

Basically, you bought the wrong deck! You should have bought a Beogram 3500, 4500, 6500 or 7000, either of which would have worked perfectly, as they all have the RIAA pre-amp built in to the deck. This is a much better solution to the problem giving better sound quality and less interference. .........creeps away to put flak jacket on........
