  • Re: Beogram CD 5500 - no sound, noise only

Also worth checking all cables, plugs and connectors. I've also seen a couple of cases where the main board had breaks to the copper traces near the front right side corner. One of them even had the corner broken clear off taking with it 5 or 6 copper traces. Martin

Will the right reel rotate at wind/rewind ? If not, it will need some servicing. The reels are lubricated with a thin grease, or at least it was quite thin when applied, it dries in and hardens over the years, making the reel rotate less willingly. It can also be a brake fault but that is rare, unless the deck was taken apart and put together the wrong

  • Re: SOUND DISTORTION

Static electricity can ruin lots of electronic circuits and the Beomaster 5000 does have CMOS circuitry so we can't rule that diagnose out. If you didn't use a proper ESD workspace and ESD tools, the risks of static discharges are higher. It would be a very strong discharge for you to notice it. The electronics are far more sensitive. But there

  • Re: Beogram 2000/1000 Idler wheel noise

Most likely the idler wheel rubber has hardened with age. I have used Terry's Rubber Rollers in the states for similar jobs, he rebuilds idler wheels and pressure rollers. I'm sure he can do your idler wheel too. http://www.terrysrubberrollers.com/ Martin

  • Re: Just bought BM1900

The tone control lamps forms part of the 15V discharge circuit. If the lamps are bad, it may take a longer press of the standby pad to bring the Beomaster in to standby. Occasionally, it won't at all. Check the two leads that goes to the underside of the tonecontrol lamp board. Martin

  • Re: What Are You Working On Now ?

You can add a little silicone grease to the slider grooves in the plastic casing and also to the center metal plate if your sliders have it. Martin

  • Re: (Dillen) How should a recordplayer be packed?

The above shown is pretty much how I do it too. I like to squeeze a piece of foam in between the overside of the carriage and the underside of the black rear cover plus a piece of foam taped in at the left side of the carriage to prevent the carriage from coming off its rails and moving left. ALWAYS pack the platter separately. The Beogram 6006/8000

  • Re: (Dillen) How should a recordplayer be packed?

I've seen too many badly packed Beograms in my time so maybe it would be a good idea to make a FAQ entry regarding this. It's right, I sold a Beogram 6500 just a few minutes ago (thanks for your interest) and I will see if I can take some photos of the packing. Martin

  • Re: What Are You Working On Now ?

That's exactly the thing to do ! There's nothing like a clean potentiometer. Contact cleaner losens oxidation but it doesn't remove anything, it just allows the dirt to be shifted around until the cleaning agent eventually evaporates (typically overnight and you have the fault back). In the best of cases the cleaning agent doesn't add
