This what I did with my pentas - removed the amps, then re-threaded the amp cable out of one of the horizontal gaps at the rear, and then some speaker wires from the speaker out between amp and speaker, you could of course route this the same way as the amp wires. I then re-attached the amp module and terminated the wires with the typical 2 pin dins

If you have a sensitve enough ammeter, you could try sinking and sourcing pin 38 from supply and ground respectively (directly on the processor) and see how much current the pin is pulling?? I would think this would give you an instant indication as to where to look next!

I just want to add a couple of little things - You should really follow the correct proceedure of bending the release tabs before moving the plinth forward. These lock the plinth in place which is why it appears to stick on some machines. By not bending these you needlessly wear them out to the point that many plinths just slide forward easily on their

Maybe the built in amp is over heating and shutting down. That would makes sense with the consistancy of the fault. Just sorry I can't help you more as I am not experienced with this setup.

For your mains cable there is always an option of picking up something like a cord 1900 and stripping for the lead? Much nicer to keep an original than put something that has obviously been changed. And really, using exotic stuff if it makes you happy great but otherwise don't expect to hear a difference in a double blind test!

What is the resistance between the mod chip pin 7 and the main beomaster ground? You can't solve this issue by modding in such a manner you must find the reason you have this discrepancy! Has to be very simple to solve. Anyway good luck I won't be around quite so much atm quite busy..
