Michael, I too LOVE my B&O equipment, but as there are no B&O dealers of any kind on Vancouver Island, the closest dealer is in Vancouver, a ferry ride away, 1 ½ hours and expensive, plus that dealer has no repair facilities, only some guy who answers his phone when the spirit moves him. As such when something breaks, I need to repair
-
Hi Peter, Well that was not the answer I had hoped for, but I agree, you are most likely correct. Sigh. The Beomaster 2400 is the same one I had written in previously about, vis a vis smelling like burning electronics. The overall sound quality has not been noticeably affected; however I have to turn the volume up higher than before the burning smell
-
I pose this question more in fun than anything else, as there are so many variables as to make an exact answer virtually impossible, but I ask the question, none the less. Today I was playing my Beomaster 2400/Beocord 9000 had fairly high volume using S-75 speakers and noted that the speakers sounded as if they were being pushed to near their limit
-
Hi Peter, Well that makes me fell a whole lot better. With the MMC3 and at higher volume, the MC120.2 speakers sounded plastic, artificial, and unnatural. I was surprised by this as the Beomaster 4500 had done an AMAZING job at powering my Linn Isobaric and McIntosh ML2’s. So perhaps it was the MMC3 that was at fault more than the MC 120.2 speakers

Peter, I would love the comparison with your 3000. A bespoke SP2? You had it custom made? Remarkable. I would have to say that the Beogram 4000 has a little more going for it besides platter weight. Working on my Beogram 4000 thoroughly impressed me with the build quality and the over-engineering. B&O cut corners on the 4002 and beyond….
-
Just a quick question, it has been said that my pairing of a Beomaster 4500 with S120.2 speakers is completely unrealistic…. that it, the Beomaster 4500 is woefully inadequate to the demands of these power hungry speakers. Do you agree? Jeff
-
Comparing these aging Beograms and their equally aging cartridges is a lot like comparing antique automobiles…. basically pointless, yet so very satisfying. With that lead-in statement in mind added to my speaker arrangement, which has got to be the worst on the planet, I finally had the opportunity to have a “serious” comparison
-
Hi Jeff, My ears aren’t what they once were either, but I can still hear a world of difference. I am SO glad I accepted your fine offer. Jeff

My 8002 was initially tracking at 2 grams, which was clearly too heavy. I reduced it to 1.1 and the sound improvement was amazing. I need to zero balance the tonearm and then reset. But that will have to wait for the weekend. Many thanks to Burantek for my “new” MMC2. The MMC2 took my 8002 from the bottom of the list vis a vis sound quality
