  • Re: Does vintage B&O sound better?

You have been fortunate in picking up a Beomaster that is probably one of the most underrated units, or rather it is pretty much forgotten than under appreciated. Another unit that would surprise you for the detail and easily listenable would be the Beomaster 3000 - or its Beocentre equivalent the Beocentre 3500. The latter usually sell for less than

  • Re: Beocord 9000 vs. CD..........

Frequency response is not the only thing that affects sound quality, and a certain amount of distortion an make things sound better, but it has to be a certain types, and in a certain relationship to the fundamental waveform from which the distortion is derived. If you take even a poor flat signal such as one from a 78rpm disc that is worn, you can

  • Re: HDD based products like BS 3200 and BS 5: Useless when HDD crashes?

I would like to think that it would be possible to install another hard drive, but is it? It might be useful to put in a larger capacity drive, but is it possible?

  • Re: Beovox 5000 Type 6206 restoration

Getting to the crossovers is something of a pain because the backs do not come off, you have to go in by removing the woofer. You will want to wear something to protect you from the itchy rock wool lining, and if I were you I would take all the rock wool lining out before starting. Also put a dust mask on and perhaps something to protect your eyes.

  • Re: RL140 renovation, midtone question

Its unlikely you'll ever have to worry about them. The mid tone speakers have rubber surrounds, unlike the bass units. They can also be a sod to remove, so its not worth doing, unless like me you replaced the front half of the speakers and had to move everthing across to the new ones.

  • Re: Why most "modern digital" music sounds artificial

You are seriously underestimating the amount of interferance in vocal music from electronic 'aids'. Just like guitar pedals, there are many many differant effects, and they have been in use for a long time, from the echo in a large hall or even just in a subway, right through to harmonisers, chorus and pitch shifters such as the one mentioned

  • Re: Ripping Music - The Digital Age

Opps, hit a wrong key, .........You will probably need to donwload the correct CODEC, for example Winap, which is a very popular media file player, has loads and loads of add ons that were written by third parties, and in among them is the Monkey Audio plug in. In my experience, you will find that the program that yuou use for ripping your files has

  • Re: Ripping Music - The Digital Age

There are various lossless formats about, however the problem i finding a suitabpe player, not all of them will support every format. Look them up on Wiki where you will find infrmation on Encoding, and the all important decoding - ie playing. Names of such formats FLAC, WavPac, Monkeys Audio(this is one of the better ones), and of course there is the
