Lamps can blow and break for any reason, even from mere vibrations but with another lamp fitted I suggest you check the voltage across the lamp, just to make sure it didn't blow from overvoltage. Martin

Welcome to Beoworld ! First thing would be to replace capacitors and preset trimmers on the amplifier board and of course readjust to factory settings afterwards. It's an essential step in any Beomaster 6000 restoration. It will make an eventual further diagnose easier and may even cure the actual problem. Martin

Put an ohmmeter across its leads and check for continuity. Martin

The Grand Prix 609K from my restoration thread is now in Japan, entertaining customers in a shop selling contemporary scandinavian design (mainly teak) furniture so I'm afraid, I cannot just go and test things like that but I do seem to remember that it was pretty quiet when tuning between stations. Actually, I would expect that from a B&O top
