The only thing I wonder is if a pinstriping tape is: is it made to be viewed from the sticky side as it will be installed on the backside of the clear window?

Agreed. After closer inspection, with a magnifying glass, they appear more orange than red.As I said my sliders are very cloudy and yellowed so it required closer scrutiny.Probably a red/orange combo of some sort will be perfect.I will have to check the tuning meter for comparison. Can't wait to get into the garage to try to make a couple.I think I

Geoff That line on the left looks very good, perfectly acceptable quality.I looked at the ones I painted under a magnifying glass and they are better than I thought originally, very acceptable also.Problem solved as far as I am concerned. To me that was the biggest issue of manufacturing these. Are you,or anyone absolutely certain of the color of these

Geoff I think we may have been talking about two different things. The .5mm bearing surface you refer to to keep the polished surface from riding on the aluminum and wearing on the numbers makes sense to me and I like your solution.Trying to remove .5mm from the rear face and then getting it polished would be too much work.Using your technique you might

I thought I noticed a tapered wedge profile there. That complicates things a bit,but not impossible of course.

At first glance it appears to be a fairly simple part to make on my benchtop mill. The question remains on how to make that perfect red line. I have some 4.5mm plexiglass.Slightly thicker than the 4mm Geoff said was required.Might not be a noticeable difference, though.

Most likely the red line is simply silk screened onto the plastic then.

Agreed. The groove(if there is one) would have to be as smooth as the polished face is.If I have the piece monuted in the milling machine I could create a hairline groove and apply paint somehow with an applicator mounted in the machine. This will require some thought and experimentation.

Geoff, very nice. You have inspired me.I was considering manufacturing some myself out of polycarbonate with my miniature benchtop milling machine. My biggest concern was how to make the red line down the middle.Obviously it can be done.I haven't seen one dissassembled yet, obviously not a very complex piece?Any pics of the window by itself?Martin:I
